THAT Council move into closed session to consider: • advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose (Art Piece) Pursuant to Section 239 (2) (f) of the Municipal Act. Council reconvened in open session at 7:01 p.m. with all members present. Council Motion 2026-178 received a legal memo, and Motion 2026-179 was the motion to return to open session. Reports Arising from Closed Meeting There were none. Announcements 7.1 Councillor Pennell announced a notice of motion pertaining to insurance rates on designated heritage properties for the Built and Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee to the next feasible meeting. 7.2 Councillor Braney announced a notice of motion pertaining to an opportunity for a vacancy tax for the empty storefronts to the next feasible meeting. 7.3 Councillor Grosso announced the rehabilitation of County Road 3 rehabilitation public information centre. He also announced the celebration of life for Cynthia Riordon on April 26, 2026 Highline Hall, Wellington and encouraged people to donate to the Storehouse Food bank. 7.4 Councillor MacNaughton announced Earth Day on April 22, 2026 and the importance of local action. Councillor MacNaughton announced a notice of motion of advocacy for the proposed changes pertaining to the retroactive amendments to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act at the next feasible meeting. 7.5 Councillor Branderhorst announced the euchre tournament at Athol Town Hall on Saturday, April 25th at Athol Hall. She noted pre-registration is required. 7.6 Mayor Ferguson proclaimed April 19 to April 25, 2026, as National Volunteer Week, and extend sincere thanks to all volunteers for their vital role and lasting impact within our community.
