Presentations 4.1 Angus Ross and Don Wilford, Climate Action Working Group, to present to Committee regarding the Climate Action Plan Final Report Angus Ross and Don Wilford, Climate Action Working Group presented to Committee regarding the Climate Action Plan Final Report. They outlined local and insurance impacts, greenhouse gas emissions, realistic targets, and essential actions. They discussed sources of emissions from buildings (including new developments), transportation, and agriculture. They identified areas that Council could review through a climate action lens: official plan language, development standards, asset management, capital planning, and reporting requirements. A question and answer period ensued regarding: • the new baseline for emissions statistics, targets and actions for the County; • the difficulty obtaining certain statistics such as fuel sales data on transportation from increases in vehicular transportation from tourism, and data related to buildings and agriculture; • the economic accessibility of purchasing electric vehicles and heat pumps; • importance of educating the public on greenhouse emissions and potential actions; and reviewing Bill 17 and potential avenues to incentivize green building.
